One significant challenge facing distance education supervisors and administrators involves monitoring and providing timely feedback to instructors. An online campus typically has a lean structure—a small number of deans and department chairs compared to a large, transient adjunct faculty population. Faculty may teach in varying sessions and term lengths within the academic year, which compounds the challenge of completing formal reviews or performance evaluations on a regular schedule. Adding to the challenge, typical formal evaluation forms/tools do not adequately reflect the fluid nature and unique elements of distance education.
This webinar introduces 10 faculty performance indicators (FPI) and shares effective methods for observing online course elements, collecting summative data, and communicating feedback to online faculty in a positive and meaningful way. Emphasis on these 10 FPI supports recent principles of good practice for distance education as outlined by the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's Division of Digital Learning.
Certificate and CEUs for WebinarsLearners will have the option to earn a certificate of attendance or a certificate with Continuing Education Units (CEU) upon completion of the webinar. To earn a certificate with CEUs, the learner must successfully pass the learning assessment with a score of 80% or higher. All learners must complete the post-event evaluation to earn credentials.

Dr. Kristen Kirkpatrick (previously Kelton) began her role as Director of Academic Affairs/ Operations for Tarrant County College Connect Campus in May 2018. Her primary responsibility includes overseeing quality assurance for online courses. She also facilitates program reviews, serves as district coordinator for Quality Matters, manages new online program development, and advises the district on academic and strategic initiatives. Dr. Kirkpatrick is passionate about continuous improvement; she believes change is the only constant when it comes to higher education. Aligning processes, programs, courses, and practices to meet the evolving needs of all stakeholders is a priority.
