Description

Although artificial intelligence (AI) has been around since the 1960s, easy-to-use platforms like ChatGPT, Google Bard, MidJourney, Dall-E, SudoWrite, MagicSchool, and MyLessonPlan are providing many educators with their first opportunities to create content and engage students through AI. This workshop explores the fundamentals of Generative AI and its relevance within the higher education context. Participants use Generative AI platforms to create innovative teaching methodologies as well as discuss the ethical implications and potential biases when using AI-generated content for educational purposes.

By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the fundamentals of Generative AI and explain its relevance in the higher education context.
  • Apply Generative AI tools to design and construct innovative teaching methodologies.
  • Evaluate the ethical implications and potential biases when judging the appropriateness of AI-generated content for educational purposes.

Learners will have the option to earn a certificate of attendance or a certificate with Continuing Education Units (CEU) upon completion of the workshop.
